Job description
We are the company that stands behind the spectacular success of CKEditor, used by millions of people around the world. At CKSource we produce software components that other developers use to build their applications (WYSIWYG editor, file manager, document converters, etc.). Our flagship product is CKEditor 5 – an open-source, modern TypeScript, rich text editor with custom data model and virtual DOM – check our GitHub repository.
We are part of Tiugo Technologies, a launchpad for new developer platforms, helping software companies accelerate growth, increase operating efficiency, and scale their business. Tiugo contains a suite of brands that are API-first, market-leading developer platforms focused on content creation and digital collaboration. Tiugo’s current family of brands includes CKEditor, TinyMCE, ButterCMS, and Uploadcare.
Together our products have powered millions of software applications and websites. Enabling content and communication in everything from Microsoft to NASA, you might not know our name, but you’ve probably used our software.
Your impact
You’ll take a key role in designing and maintaining our internal, modular backend framework – built in TypeScript and shared across all our backend services. It’s the foundation that powers CKEditor Cloud Services, CKBox, AI features, and more.
Our system consists of around 30 microservices, running in a distributed architecture on AWS ECS, communicating via SQS and (in some places) ZeroMQ, with infrastructure managed through Terraform. We care deeply about type safety, testability, and observability, and your work will directly shape the tools and patterns other teams use every day.
This isn’t just about writing services — it’s about building a framework with type safety in mind, clean architecture, and the best developer experience at its core.
You’ll be responsible for:
Designing and evolving the backend framework in TypeScript and Node.js — with a strong emphasis on type safety, extensibility, and great DX for other teams
Building reusable modules and internal tooling
Championing software quality, observability, and maintainability
Helping define standards and best practices used across the company
Job requirements
We’re looking for someone who:
Has strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js, and knows how to leverage the type system to write robust, maintainable, and developer-friendly code
Understands how to build developer-facing tools, libraries, or frameworks
Writes code that’s easy to test, extend, and refactor
Has a strong grasp of software architecture and knows how to make smart trade-offs
Cares deeply about developer experience, code quality, and long-term maintainability
Is comfortable working in English (spoken and written)
Bonus if you:
Have contributed to open-source (especially Node.js/TS libraries, tooling, or frameworks)
Follow what's new in the TypeScript ecosystem
Have worked with modern languages that emphasize type safety and expressive type systems — like Rust, Haskell, Scala, Gleam, etc.
Have worked on platform teams or in DevEx roles
Care about documentation, code style, and code consistency
Have experience with Terraform or infrastructure automation
